Community Outreach supports the Library’s mission by bringing library services and resources to the community through direct engagement and collaborative partnerships. We prioritize outreach to underserved communities and groups with barriers to access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Teton County Library has one mobile outreach van and a book bike. These are multifunctional vehicles that serve to showcase library services to a wide audience. The mobile outreach vehicles are not bookmobiles.

The book bike attends community events and visits organizations within the town of Jackson. The mobile outreach attends community events and visits organizations throughout Teton County. Most events we attend are free and open to the public.

In addition to our guidelines for attending community events, we also need to consider the vehicle's dimensions before deciding if a vehicle can attend an event. The van is a Ford 250 Transit van and the cargo space dimensions are as follows:  132" long, 55" wide between wheel wells, and 72" high at centerline.

The outreach van provides a wide range of services and caters to the audience's needs. Services include:

  • answering reference questions
  • digital services demonstrations
  • library card sign up
  • checking out books
  • crafts and activities
  • resources for parents and caregivers
  • storytimes for babies and children

The book bike distributes free books and provides basic information about library services.

Sometimes the outreach van may have a curated collection of books for checkout. The book bike distributes free books throughout the community.

Yes, the outreach van can provide library cards at community events.

Would you like to have library materials delivered to your door? 

This service is for anybody who finds the Library inaccessible in some way. Our delivery and returns to your home are free of charge. Don’t have a library card? We’ll get you signed up! We look forward to hearing from you!

We can also assist you with navigating the Talking Books program. Talking Books is a Federally funded program that loans specially designed playback equipment, large print, braille, and audio books, including materials that can’t be found anywhere else in audio.  If you are unable to read or comfortably use standard print materials due to visual, physical, or reading disabilities, whether the condition is permanent or temporary, this program is for you.  Contact the Outreach Librarian for details at (307) 733-2164, extension 3244, or email outreach@tclib.org
