As book banning sweeps through our country at an unprecedented rate, brave librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment rights, flanked by concerned community members and young readers. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work, the librarians you’ll see on screen will inspire you with their rallying cry for the freedom to read. Here in Wyoming, a similar-in-nature bill that targets library books for “sexually explicit” content could have detrimental effects on libraries across our state.

THE LIBRARIANS, which made its world premiere at Sundance and continued on to SXSW and Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, explores the urgent moment we find ourselves in—it’s a chilling cautionary tale and rallying cry for freedom–told through the personal experiences of librarians under siege and the everyday patriots who join their ranks in defense of the books.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on what community members can do to support libraries and freedom of information.

In collaboration with Teton County Library Foundation & Friends, Teton County Library, Better Wyoming, and Jackson Hole International Film Festival.
