Pop Up Art Show, SAT, APR 15, 11:00 a.m.
A four-week drawing workshop taught by art educator Melinda Linn. Improve your skills with both ink and graphite compositions, exploring advanced linear and tonal techniques, aspects of color theory, and more. Show your work in a pop-up exhibit at the workshop's end. Participants must purchase their own supplies.
Registration will be for all eight sessions: 3/21, 3/22, 3/28, 3/29, 4/4, 4/5, 4/11, 4/12. If you cannot join all sessions, you may still register but priority will be given to adults who can commit to all sessions. Sign up is limited to 12 participants.
Alta Saturday Matinee: The Poetry Lounge (documentary)

The Poetry Lounge: Self-Expression Through The Spoken Word is a free, multicultural open-forum for self-expression, inspiring young people to find their own voice and let it be heard. Hosted by award-winning Def Poets Shihan and Poetri, the "Lounge" has become the largest weekly open mic forum in the country, and was one of the inspirations for Russell Simmons' 2003 Tony-winning show, Def Poetry Jam. Taken from a recent Poetry Lounge event, this program features 2004 National Slam Champions, performing their work and sharing their inspiration. Learn the fundamentals of writing and performing "spoken word" poetry from some of the most accomplished poets of the movement.
