About the Candid Rural Pilot Program

Candid Rural Pilot Program (CRPP) is a state-wide pilot partnership with Wyoming Libraries to provide access to Candid resources, along with training and support statewide. This partnership serves rural and indigenous communities through Candid’s Equitable Access initiative, empowering patrons across the state to utilize Candid’s tools and resources. Through the CRPP, Wyomingites will have access to Foundation Directory Professional, a powerful grant research tool that provides data and insights on 228,000+ private and independent foundations, corporate foundations, federal funders, and public charities, 900,000+ grant recipients, and 19 million+ grants. All sites will also have access to Grants to Individuals, which includes profiles of 10,000 grantmakers with details on funders that provide scholarships, fellowships, grants, and a wide range of financial support to individuals such as students.

CRPP is generously funded by the Wyoming Community Foundation.

Why are we doing this?

According to 2020 Candid data, Wyoming is one of the top five states with nonprofit saturation by total population. Specifically, Wyoming’s ratio is 92 nonprofit entities per 10,000 people or 5,254 nonprofits serving just over half a million residents. Now more than ever, Wyoming nonprofits will need to search for funds outside the state’s borders. In 2021-22, there were three Candid access sites in Cheyenne, Gillette, and Jackson with each location paying $3,000-$6,000 per year. The cost of this resource is beyond what the majority of WY public libraries can afford. And although members of the Wyoming Nonprofit Network can access some grants through Grant Station, the information available and ease of use makes Candid a far superior product. Our goal is to provide the best possible research combined with the most transparent information for Wyoming nonprofits.
